Xi Wang's orchestral work, Above Light - a conversation with Toru Takemitsu, was selected by Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute, The piece will be performed by the Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis at 8:00PM on October 26, 2007, conducted by Osmo Vänskä. The concert will be hosted by Minnesota Public Radio's Steve Seel (from 89.3, The Current) and Melissa Ousley (from Classical MPR). For people out of earshot of the MPR-affiliated stations in the Minnesota region, that you can hear it streamed live on minnesotapublicradio.org. Everything on MPR is streamed live and each of their three services (News, Classical and The Current) has its own live stream. Just click on the green tab that says Classical, and they'll be on their way.

Xi Wang's orchestral work, Above Light, won the 5th Northridge Composition Prize. The piece will be performed by California State University Northridge Symphony during the 2007-2008 season under the direction of Dr. John Roscigno.

The final round of the competition as well as the concert will take place on September 28, 2007 in the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
